Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Centre (Formerly known as Dharmaj Degree Pharmacy College) started in the year 2006 with a vision to provide education in the vicinity of Charutar region. The institute is managed by SanskrutiSanraksha Charitable Trust. The instituteis approved by AICTE, PCI and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. We thank Late ShriIndubahi M. Patel (Ipcowala) for his immense contribution towards the insstitue.Aa receiver of a plenitude of respect and awardsShriShriIndubahi M. Patel was honored with “Bhamashah” (man of at most love and sacrifice) & first Pharmacist of Dharmaj, and hence the name of the institute was changed to Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Centre, in the year 2008.

B.SC NURSING.

The course of study shall extend over a period of 4 academic years from the date of commencement of his/ her study of the subjects comprising the nursing curriculum to the date of completion of examination.

GNM Nursing

GNM referred as General Nursing and Midwifery it deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery. It is a 3 years long Diploma program. Academic program is 2.5 years long and 6 months are dedicated towards internship.

Hostel

The institution provides residential hostel to the boy and girl students separately. The residential hostel is managed by a teacher- warden appointed by the Trust. Right of admission and right of expulsion rest with the authorities.

About

Ipcowala Institute of Nursing was established in the year 2021 under the aegis of Sanskruti Sanrksha Charitable Trust, Dharmaj. The institute is affiliated to Sardar Patel University, recognized by Government of Gujarat and approved by Gujarat Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. The Institute was established in 2021 year with a view to promote excellence in nursing education & to prepare nurses to meet the challenges of nursing practice.

The institute aims at an educational programme that enhances the student’s knowledge, skills, abilities and favourable attitudes to qualify as nursing professionals in today’s highly competitive and health conscious society.

Candidates aiming to persue career in Nursing are required to possess high motivation towards the Nursing profession, with special qualities, a spirit of altruism, commitment and dedication to work. The college prepares nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the human rights and facilitates individual and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conducts research studies in the areas of nursing practice.

Caring for ailing patients is more than just a career – it is a calling. As patient needs more attention and care environments have become more complex, nurses need to attain requisite competencies including leadership, health policy, system improvement, research and evidence – based practice with team work and collaboration. Competency in specific content areas such as community, geriatrics, paediatric, psychiatric & midwifery- gynaecology etc are the need of the time.

Competencies also must move from task – based proficiencies to higher – level competencies that provide a foundation for care management knowledge and decision – making skills under a variety of clinical situations and care settings.

“One’s attitude determines One’s future”. So no matter how tough the going is, if you conquer defeat and persist with your efforts you will crown yourself with supreme, success. Hence, nursing professional should act as a bridge between the physician, patients and Pharmacists to strive for better health care.

Eligibility Criteria

G. N. M.

1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:

o 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.

o 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing council.

o 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.

o Registered ANM with pass mark.

For foreign nationals

• The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.

2. Reservation:

• For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.

Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.

• 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.

• Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy

Note: Quotas shall be included in the seats sanctioned and not above it..

3. Admission of students shall be once in a year.

4. Students shall be medically fit.

5. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December of that year) The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ for LHV, there is no age bar.

B. Sc. (N)

• The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.

• Minimum education: o 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.

• Student shall be medically fit.

• Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School with 45% marks.

• Student shall be admitted once in a year.

Laboratory

1.Fundamental of Nursing Lab

The primary goal of the Fundamentals Lab is to enhance the nursing students to learn the basic nursing skills and intervention concepts with the valuable opportunity of practicing them on adult-sized patients in an acute care hospital setting. The basic skill of nursing practice is through the utilization of theory and kinesthetic learning principles. The lab is well furnished and well ventilated with all the necessary equipment’s like patient beds, mattresses, bed sheets, bedside locker, linens and blankets, napkins and towels, bed cradle, cardiac table, wheel chair, stretcher, different sizes procedure trays, and other instruments. The lab also contains the manikin of adult male and female as well. There are also charts like types of site of pulses, injection sites, bandaging, angle of injection, chain of infection etc.

2.Community Health Nursing lab

The Institute is having a separate Community Health Nursing lab, with all the equipment’s for education and practice of the students about the community situation and to learn the basic Nursing procedures which are to be performed in community settings. This lab ensures the students to learn home visiting using bag technique & practice the community health nursing while providing family health care at their door step using modified home visiting kits and learn to treat the patient in home environment with minimum facilities. One corner of lab is designed as home-set up. Community lab makes the student’s clinical experience an educational and enlightening one and to promote empowerment of the students. Demonstrations on different procedures are given prior to perform in community to meet their objectives. It also helps in problem-solving and decision making skills. Demonstrations make the learning more realistic and authentic.

3.Pre-clinical science lab

In our institute the Lab is having proper lighting and good ventilation. The anatomy and physiology lab consist of all the equipment such as adult human articulated skeleton, adult skull, pelvic, heart with large blood vessels, eye with different section, ear with different section, full set of dies articulated adult human skeleton, uterus and etc…and different charts of all the systems such as human bones, respiratory system, oral cavity, cartilages, muscular system, etc. The lab is well furnished in such a way that the students are able to acquire their knowledge through their different demonstration.

4. Advanced skill lab

The lab accommodates students by providing scheduled times for both skill practice and patient-specific preparation in all the specialties. The lab contains equipment pertaining to all nursing departments. The role of the teachers in the lab is to support student learning by assisting the students with skill practice and developing critical thinking. They prepare students for practice in the lab by guiding them through each skill. The Lab has an abundance of resources and equipment to enhance both student teaching and learning. Clinical skills are not just about the procedural steps. They are developed from a strong knowledge base, a review of relevant references, rehearsal and practice as well as repeated performance and debriefing by teaching staff.

5. Nutrition lab

We have well ventilated and well-furnished nutrition Lab. We have facilities in nutrition Lab. Like glassware articles, refrigerator, Mixture, Dinner Set, Dining Table with Chair, Table met, stove, weighting machine. The aim of it is to acquire knowledge of nutrition for maintenance of optimum health at different stages of life and its application for practice of nutrition.

6. OBG &PEDIATRICS LAB

The purpose of an OBG (Obstetrics and Gynecology) lab in a nursing institute is to provide students with practical training and hands-on experience in dealing with aspects related to pregnancy, childbirth, and women’s reproductive health. OBG labs are essential components of nursing education, especially for those pursuing careers in women’s health or maternity care. The purpose of a pediatric lab is to provide a specialized and child-friendly facility for performing diagnostic tests, examinations, and procedures on infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatric labs play a crucial role in pediatric healthcare and are designed to meet the unique needs of young patients.

7. A.V AIDS

In today's technological era, knowledge of technology is essential to live up to the expectation of the modern health care. A.V AIDS Lab at nursing institute provides a learning atmosphere to the students so that they can acquaint themselves with skills. The lab is designated for placing Audio Visual equipment like LCD Projectors, Film strip projector, LED, OHP etc.

8.COMPUTER LAB

Students, faculty and staff have access to the computer labs, which provide the tools and technologies to produce websites, edit papers, complete class assignments, communicate via email, and conduct data analyses and access library resources. Microsoft Windows software is available for word processing, statistics, spreadsheets and database management. A variety of graphics and website-creation software programs are also available.
